Position: Interim Autonomous Production Unit Manager – Automotive Sector
Context & Objectives: Steering a high-performance production unit in a demanding industrial environment
At a subsidiary of an international group specialized in automotive safety systems, this mission aimed to stabilize and enhance the performance of an Autonomous Production Unit (UAP), ensuring rigorous team leadership and industrial KPI tracking in a high-pressure environment.
Key Challenges & Actions:
- Managed the UAP's operations, ensuring targets were met in safety, quality, lead times, and cost
- Led and engaged a team of supervisors and production operators (approx. 65 people), strengthening performance culture and adherence to industry standards
- Planned workloads, optimized resource allocation, and adjusted capacities based on production forecasts
- Improved production processes through concrete continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, 5S, QRQC)
- Ensured compliance with automotive quality standards by reducing scrap rates, managing quality incidents, and escalating issues to upper management
- Worked closely with Operations Management to deliver reliable, regular reporting on UAP performance
- Led daily management routines, reinforced on-the-floor communication, and supported supervisors in developing their leadership capabilities
Results:
- Tangible improvements in performance indicators (OEE, scrap rate, service rate) directly impacting customer satisfaction
- Re-engagement of production teams, greater managerial stability, and strengthened operational skills
- Significant reduction in quality issues thanks to faster response times and structured non-conformity handling
